June 1st Sew-in

As promised, Wanda Hanson, as she demo'd last month, will be guiding us thru Karla Alexander's pattern that can be laid out like a log cabin. AND Wanda, per Karen's request, is going to have kits made up for the Twisted Rail and another variation made up with strip. So, we'll be learning and sewing for the troops! If you like either one, we can do again next month. btw, check out Wanda's blog---I find a very nice read as well. http://exuberantcolor.blogspot.com/

Great turnout in Winfield, IL

What a great turnout we had in Winfield! Came home with 1 completed quilt and 9 tops! Oh, and was there food!! I saw people stopping in just to check us out. We had the pressers going and what a nice job they did as well. Yep, "ask and they will come" is what it's all about. There are definitely people out there that just want to give of themselves and they do. Definitely a great pat on the back goes out to Donna Kelley and her friends. I don't want to start with a list of donators until I get a complete list cause I definitely don't want to miss anyone.

Thank you to everyone who showed up. It was fun.

REMINDER: Sew-in May 22

We had a "mini" sew-in on Wednesday, May 12th where we did some tube strip sewing. It sure was fun watching these blocks come together. Thought I'd share a few of these blocks.

Also, if you can join us for the sew-in this Saturday, May 22, 9 AM - 5 PM, we'll be happy to have you. Come for as long as you are able. St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, OS233 Church St., Winfield. It promises to be a lot of fun with some drawings, food---of course food. So, bring your "tools": irons, cutting tools, machines, ruler.

A Nice Read

Just wanted to include you in on a very nice read. It's quite long and takes awhile to upload, but it's very inspiring. I belong to an online list QOVFchat where we share ideas for fund raising, patterns, etc. They also come out with a newsletter a few times a year and this is their latest:

Personnel from Great Lakes picking up the quilts

Another Sew-in Success!

The day was great! I counted 13 quilters---not to mention the ladies who came in to deliver quilts! Our Great Lakes guests left with 53 quilts!! If I can figure out how to post a Recipe file---we have got to share those as well! I will post pictures soon.

Again, thank you for all your help, food, laughs.
