Just returned from Al's 90th birthday party where we awarded him a QOV. Al is a Navy Veteran of WWII.
We are a busy bunch of quilters that strive to provide quilts as our small and humble way of saying "thanks" to our returning troops. Rita Pennington (garipenn@att.net) is our "Drill Sergeant" and she keeps the (quilting) troops moving and motivated. We have 6 monthly sew-ins North of I88: St. Charles, Elgin, Rolling Meadows, Crest Hill, Geneva and Montgomery. See side bar for more info. Join us on Facebook: Illinois Quilts of Valor
Thank you!

Thank a Veteran each and every day

Batavia Quilt Show---last day

And a prayer request...
I want to tell you about my aunt...yes, our pillowcase maker for the past few years. Last Tuesday I took my aunt out for a birthday lunch. 86 years young! When she returned home, in getting out of her car, a gust of wind came along and knocked the car door to her back and knocked her down. She has a crushed wrist. She is scheduled for surgery this Friday morning, so keep her in your thoughts.
When she called me from the hospital, her words, not mine, were, you're going to have to find someone else to make pillowcases!

Sew In Reminders!
Yes, we have two sew-ins on Tuesday, July 15. You read that yesterday we awarded 50 quilts (40 from LOLQOV and 10 from Huntley's Gazebo QOV Quilters) to the National Guard members who returned from Afghanistan last year. Well, there are 130 members who returned. I have never promised quilts before knowing we can do it but yes, I've promised to come back to cover the rest of the members. So, we have work to do!! And what timing:
We return to Sewing Etc., Yorkville, (Rt 47 and Cannonball Trail Rd) for our regular sew-in. NOTE: We now have the storefront next door with a much bigger area! Jane has what you'll need if you're looking for a new project. You'll need your sewing machine and quilting tools.
A new-to-us location in Arlington Heights begins its debut Tuesday at Linda Z's. That address is: 1030 E Central Rd, Arlington Heights and their phone number is: (847) 394-4622. We begin at 9:30 and go until 3 (ish). Again, sewing machines, and quilting tools.
Also, if you have old phone books looking for a place, can you start putting them aside for our string projects. So, fill them bobbins and let's do it!
