101 so far this Month!

It's Veterans Week in Aurora!  Last night 9 Veterans were award their QOVs after Mass at Holy Angels Church.  If I can get the picture, I'll post that one later.

Today, Veterans Week's program included a Medley of 30s, 40s and 50's music...very entertaining...followed by a QOV Presentation to 9 veterans.  Thank you Joyce and Kathy for your assistance.  Here are some pictures.

Thank you, Sally D, for your service

Had to take my sewing machine in for repair. When I was there the last time, I discovered Sally was a Veteran. Told her when I came back, I had something for her. So, today was the day. Sally D is also the owner of Aunt Sassy's Quilts, Geneva, IL. If there is anyone interested in a weekend QOV Sew-In, she wishes for you to come and sew with her. Let me know. They are also now a QOV drop-off !! So, Sally, Thank you for your service. NOTE: Suzie, it had Emily's name on it but I recognize the lovely border. She loved it!!!

More May reporting.

On Saturday, Chicago was the location for a Returning Warrior Workshop.  Thank you, Deb S, and Suzie W for assisting me in awarding 43 Veterans their quilt.  As always a very moving experience.

The Veterans bring along a significant other.  The  Veteran above brought his father, a Vietnam Veteran.  He awarded his father with his own QOV.

Thank you gentleman and women for your service!

A busy month so far!

Last week Marilyn sent in:   "QOV was given to John L yesterday. The quilt was made by the 5th graders at Old Post Elementary School in Oswego, Il". I've  made several attempts to load the picture with all the children and for some reason, can't.  I'm no expert at this. Better when the person with the original picture to post

Last Wednesday, Renee sent.  She awarded 9 quilts.  "It was a great honor to present quilts to WarDogs Making It Home veterans. Explaining what the Quilts of Valor Foundation is all about brought tears to my eyes, but no one seemed to mind. Instead, they thanked me for the moving presentation. The veterans were so very appreciative to receive the beautiful quilts and to be recognized for serving our country. On the lighter side, each time people applauded, their service dogs started barking. It brought smiles and laughs to what was otherwise a very serious event. Thank you QOVF volunteers for making a difference in these veterans lives."  Here are some pictures to share:

 Thank you for your service!!
Can't get the pictures, but Elgin group reported:  So we had a great presentation at Elgin Community college on Tuesday May 10, 2016. Eight ladies from our group were able to help honor six vets.

Elgin also reported:  On March 12 we presented 16 quilts to veterans from WWII to Vietnam. Here are a few of those pictures.
