We gather at Prairie Shop Quilt Store for a QOV sew-in on Tuesday...10 AM - ??
If you need some more strips in the colors you chose for your strip quilt, drop me a line and I'll bring them along. I'm bringing some red, white and blue strips and some fabrics for backings. Hopefully, the fabrics for the Expo will be here so if you want to help in cutting for the walk-in sew in at the Schaumburg Show, we can work on that as well. I will post here if the fabric comes in this week for those who have been asking about helping to cut and we can get started sooner.
So, there's lots to do on Tuesday. Bring along your machine, a ruler, rotary cutter and a mat. Oh yeah, and a dish to pass!
Lots to do, but we're getting it done! Thanks for all that you do.

We are a busy bunch of quilters that strive to provide quilts as our small and humble way of saying "thanks" to our returning troops. Rita Pennington (garipenn@att.net) is our "Drill Sergeant" and she keeps the (quilting) troops moving and motivated. We have 6 monthly sew-ins North of I88: St. Charles, Elgin, Rolling Meadows, Crest Hill, Geneva and Montgomery. See side bar for more info. Join us on Facebook: Illinois Quilts of Valor
Thank you!

Thank you, Yorkville
We have added another monthly sew in! We will be in Yorkville (Sewing, Etc) on the third Tuesday of every month.
I counted over a dozen who showed up ready to sew yesterday. I brought along the strips and we have some really nice quilt tops started---looking forward to seeing the completed tops and some worked and took kits. Kelly, the owner, just couldn't do enough for us...Thank you so much Kelly for the hospitality and generosity.
We were honored with the presence of two veterans. Love how the wives got them to get there!! In walked Shawn with his wife with the assumption he was measuring a wall. The smiles we saw after he got his quilt is priceless. While Shawn was receiving his quilt, in walked Richard (who with his wife and son drove about an hour to get there). He turned to his wife and knew she had "fibbed" a bit as to why they were there. QOV brought together two vets who after the presentation were able to share amongst themselves. Just can't get enough of presenting quilts and I think it was a nice experience to our new sewing group!

Tuesday's Sew-In
If you're planning on coming to the first QOV Sew-in at Sewing, Etc., Yorkville, I thought I'd give you a heads up on what to bring. Bring your sewing machine. If we fill up with sewing machines, we could use you at a design wall, pressing, cutting. So, bring your rotary cutter and ruler(s) as well as maybe a small mat.
See you Tuesday! Rita

We can start cutting!
Some fabric has come in, so we can start cutting strips for the Sew Expo. My shoulder is crying for some rest, so if you'd like to pick some fabric up and start cutting, that would be great. I will bring some along to the sew-in on Tuesday (Sewing Etc, Yorkville).

Fabric is on it's way
Got an email yesterday that the fabric for the show is on it's way. Rest those wrists---got a whole lot of cutting to do...and I sure appreciate your help!!
We also have a lot of tops that need quilting. If you can quilt a top or two (or ??) let me know.... would like them by June so we have time to bind them.

A whole lot done today!
We really accomplished a lot today. I came home with several quilt tops only to have Karen L drop off another 10 tops!! We were again, cutting and making up kits. Got some UFO's completed. Want to see some of our show n tell!!
Would never have thought of putting browns in here. Looks great.
Check out the borders
and the pillowcase Marcia made up with her leftover strings .
Can't get enough of the RWB
More strings
Really like the black on this one. Same pattern as the one above.
Still love the Shadowbox
What do you think of this being our raffle quilt. Pieced by Alberta and quilted by Erica B. Awesome job, ladies!
Another neat setting for the strings.
All quilted! Made by Donna N and quilted by Bonita D.

Sew In today
Realized I haven't posted all month :) I'm packed for a busy sew-in. Heard from a few of you in need of more strips. I can put more in if you give me a call and tell me what colors you're looking for before I leave. We have UFO's, more strips (I'm bringing patriotic colors today), some cutting and kitting....something for everyone! If you plan on not bringing your sewing machine, please bring your rotary cutter, ruler and maybe a mat.
See ya in a few hours!
