Thank you, gentlemen for your service

Joyce and Bob awarded two QOV's this past week.   One to his Captain Lynwood B.  They then awarded a friend, Steve F, also Army, Vietnam.  "You should of seen his wife's face when I presented him the quilt.  She own's Alterations by Tony, a bridal shop here.  In her spare time (haha) she quilts.  She knew of QOV and was so excited to see Steve receive a quilt."

Membership info

Well, it's taken me a bit to get to the QOV Members Only page. If you are a member you are eligible to get to the Members Only page at Some of the items listed are: pantographs for longarming, thread specials, free patterns, QOV shirts from Lands End--to name a few.

Someone posted a listing for free patterns. I use most of these myself! I hope shortly, I can bring along some fabric, you bring along a pattern you want to work on and have happy picking! What say you. You are always welcome to come here to "shop"'s here for you.

Yorkville sew-in

February has been a busy month. Yesterday our Yorkville group met with Cheryl P bringing in 3 tops. For a little fun, would be neat to see what 3 quilters would do with these! Have quite a few UFO's that are ready to assemble and some quilts ready for binding.

A positive note from a Machine Quilter

I am going to post a thank you from one of our machine quilters. I know you hear all the time....SLOW down....THIS IS NOT A RACE!!!, getting too many complaints from our quilters. Make sure your seams ARE together before a 1/8" around the top especially if not putting on a border..... Well, in the past week I received two emails from one of our machine quilters. You need to know when we get a good note:

"Hi Rita, I am currently working on quilt #2/4 that I have here and am having a great time since I recently moved my machine upstairs to my former living room.
Just wanted to say how wonderful the QOV packages are with all the materials cut to size! I love it that I don't have to make a backing and/or measure and cut batting. I hate cutting batting!! It is great to open the "package", put the backing on my frame, then the batting and top and get started. Yea! Better get down and finish this one so I can start another tonight. I'm trying out a different pattern on each and a new one for me to boot. Figuring out the quilting pattern is the most difficult part. Haven't been on my machine in months and it is great to turn it on once again.
Hope the sew-ins go well on Saturday.  Nancy
and note #2:
I forgot--I also love that someone has stay stitched the edge of each quilt top--no open seams to repair before quilting! Yea! Nancy"

St Charles February Sew In

St. Charles Sew-in...numbers, you want numbers? we had about 21 people, I count 14 new tops came in, people dropped off about 7 finished tops and I really didn't get a good count on how many quilted but not bound tops cause they were on the table and had people taking them home to bind. So, one down and a biggy coming up on Saturday. We're doing it! Here is what you're looking for! Highlight! Mr. Kenneth F (Navy/Vietnam) was awarded his Quilt of Valor. Thank you, sir, for your sacrifice, bravery and service)
