Illinois Quilts of Valor continue to present Quilts of Valor to Graduates of the 19th Judicial Circuit’s Veteran Treatment and Assistance Courts.

Four graduates were presented with Quilts of Valor during graduation ceremonies for Anthony, Eugene, Kenneth S., Kenneth W and Wade.  The Keynote speaker was Ken LaRue (Capt., USNR) Asst States Attorney - who has served in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The 19th Judicial Circuit’s Veteran Treatment and Assistance Court (V-TAC) was started in August 2011.  Currently, there are forty veterans in the program.  Twenty veterans have successfully completed the program in the past two years.

Thank you Gentlemen for your service and thank you Deb S for awarding their quilts.

Thankful and Sew-in Reminder

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I'm thankful for what we do, why we do it and whom we do it with!  Spending the rest of the weekend decorating the house, piecing a quilt top that's been cut since 2011 and pulling fabrics for QOV for our Feb 7th 2nd Annual Sewing Day.  Hope you're saving that date.  We have 6 locations...listed on this blog on the right.  AND it's a Saturday for those who have been asking for a weekend sew-in.

Check your calendars to let me know if you can help December 14th in Sheridan.  Haven't heard any details other than the date yet, but will keep you posted when I do.

We meet at Prairie Star Quilt Shop in Batavia Tuesday, 10 AM - ??  See you there!

L O N G day yesterday, but GOOD!

We "gathered" for a sew-in in Yorkville yesterday...but had heat issues.  So, ladies grabbed blocks and fabric to go home and sew!  Was invited to give a QOV speech to the Village Quilters of Lake Bluff last night.   Thank you ladies for having me and for your interest in Quilts of Valor.  Their "cause" for 2015 is QOV!!  Looking forward to working with them.  Here are the tops that came in at the sew in yesterday.

Chicago RWW--Thank you ladies and gentlemen for your service!!

Chicago was the location of the RWW Saturday night.  I share with you a really nice standing ovation!!  I can't take you all to these dinners, so we take as many pictures as we can.  There were 72 recipients!! So many multiple deployments...there was one who had 14 deployments!  Thank you ladies and gentlemen for your service.

Sew-in Reminder notice!!  Tomorrow at Sewing Etc., Yorkville.  NOTE---no sew-in in Arlington Heights as they are readying for a quilt show.  We will let you know of a future sew-in there soon.  Looking into Sundays.

Elgin Sew In

Today was Veteran's Day and the Elgin Chapter of Land of Lincoln Quilts of Valor had a great day. Our new group had 8 people working on paper foundation blocks, bundling quilts for longarmers, and working with a new quilter on his borders. We meet at Christ the Lord Church in Elgin off of Tina Trail from 10-2 on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. Everyone brought a sack lunch, but when we broke for lunch Patty treated everyone to a pot of Ham and Lentil Soup. It is a very laid back atmosphere and we all had a great time. Next month's meeting will be December 9 and everyone is welcome to join us. We will be finishing our quilt from this month and working on a new block for December. Come see what we are all about. A great group for experience quilts and newbies alike. We have a large room to work in and we work with great people.

Veterans Day, 2014

Happy Veterans Day to all who have served and are serving this day.  Of course I believe we should thank a veteran EVERY day.  Have met and heard oodles of Veteran stories and feel honored and so dang lucky to have done so.  How fortunate we are to have the freedom we have.

Just so you know, The Elgin location is having a QOV sew-in today if you would like to join them.

ALSO, am dropping off 7 more quilted tops that need binding at the shop this morning...more coming.  I believe we are going to meet the requirement we need to finish covering our National Guard troop we started in July!

This weekend is another RWW in Chicago.  We are covering 85 Veterans.

We are a busy group.  But would you have it any other way!

Moving and Touching Presentation

Yesterday, we had the honor of awarding 15 Quilts of Valor to men and a woman who served in various conflicts at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Aurora.  What a privilege it is for us...so humbling.  Here are a few pictures.

Thank you so much for your bravery, sacrifice and service!!

Elgin location sew in reminder notice

Hi quilting ladies!  Just a reminder our Elgin Land of Lincoln Quilts of Valor meets this coming Tuesday, November 11th.  What a great way to celebrate Veterans Day - making quilts to honor our military.  Time is 10 to 2 but come when you can.  Place is Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, located off Highland Ave., 3 blocks west of Randall Road.  Bring a sack lunch.

In addition to getting quilt bundles ready for long arming we will be working and learning together paper foundation piecing.  It is one form of paper piecing.  Patty has phonebook pages cut to size and Shirley has quilts paired with backings.

Invite a friend...Patty & Shirley

What's her name??

I need your help in remembering a name.  She was a newbie yesterday and offered to help in the presentation this Sunday.  Well, I just found out we need to be there at 10 AM....not 10:30.  SO, if memory serves me right...she was sitting across from Anita, Judy...working on the disappearing hourglass pattern.
