Can't tell you enough the nicest people I have met on this journey!! Had the honor and privilege to award Lance Corporal Evin B, Marine 2nd Marine Division, his Quilt of Valor. He made sure his service dog was in the picture! What a story--such heroism. Thank you Evin for your sacrifice and service and to all other citizens who do so much for our veterans...and I saw a whole bunch of motorcyclists who do. Veterans aiding their own.

We are a busy bunch of quilters that strive to provide quilts as our small and humble way of saying "thanks" to our returning troops. Rita Pennington (garipenn@att.net) is our "Drill Sergeant" and she keeps the (quilting) troops moving and motivated. We have 6 monthly sew-ins North of I88: St. Charles, Elgin, Rolling Meadows, Crest Hill, Geneva and Montgomery. See side bar for more info. Join us on Facebook: Illinois Quilts of Valor
Thank you!

July's Sew in at Sewing Etc., Headed now to Countryside
2016 Opportunity Quilt. A little Christmas! Pieced and quilted by Donna N |
A little late, but here are the pics from our Tuesday's sew in at Sewing Etc. We sure did a whole lot of backings that day as well! AND as of Friday I'm out of the sling AND I can (well, I did) drive! Also, if you would like to join me in Countryside this afternoon, we are awarding a very special Veteran his QOV at a fundraiser held in his honor at the Harley Davidson dealership. Oh and look at next year's Opportunity quilt. We did a Christmas theme...love it! Thank you Donna N

Shirley, from the Elgin group reports....we need to change our Quilt of Valor sewing day to Tuesday, July 14th. Christ the Lord is having a rummage sale and they will be setting up during the week of the 20th. I hope this will not inconvenience you and you will be able to make it. We will be proceeding on our plans that we talked about last month. See you at 10:00 am on the 14th, bring a sack lunch and your stuff.
And Kim also reports a change...Sunday, July 19 is the next sew in date at Linda Zs, in Arlington Heights . Noon till 4 pm.
