Oswego and Yorkville welcomed home Lt. Matthew V (Army). Matthew returned home two weeks ago. Thank you for your service, Matthew. Here are some pics.
We are a busy bunch of quilters that strive to provide quilts as our small and humble way of saying "thanks" to our returning troops. Rita Pennington (garipenn@att.net) is our "Drill Sergeant" and she keeps the (quilting) troops moving and motivated. We have 6 monthly sew-ins North of I88: St. Charles, Elgin, Rolling Meadows, Crest Hill, Geneva and Montgomery. See side bar for more info. Join us on Facebook: Illinois Quilts of Valor
Thank you!

QOV Request.....can you help? For October 3rd
We have a request for a QOV for a veteran from the Dessert Storm war
for several deployments. ... The requester says: "But his service
doesn’t stop there. He has also been Commander of our Wood Dale
American Legion.
This man is a veteran, but his service to OTHER veterans, service men and women is profound.
We are having our installation of officers on 10/3 and were hopeful the quilt could be dedicated to him at that time.

If a couple of ladies from your organization could come, we’d love to
have you join us for our installation dinner and ceremony."...."
5:00 PM Cocktails, 5:45 PM installation & presentation. Dinner
follows program........The ladies that come to present the quilt are
welcome to stay for the dinner. I’d be honored for them to sit with me!"
Let me know, thank you.

Tuesday, September 15, Sew In Reminders
Elgin:
Looking forward to seeing you on this coming Tuesday, Sept. 15th.
Quilts of Valor meets at Christ The Lord Lutheran Church, Elgin from
10 to 2. Bring a sack lunch. We will be picking up where we left off
on the "no-name quilt" that we started last month. Thank you to Ginny
and Audrey who are getting us back on track with it. Naomi and Sharon
have created two more kits as well, so there will be lots of 4 1/2 inch
pieces to play with.
Sunday afternoon Carol, Sharon and I will be at Zion Lutheran for
an ELCA event of community service, making a Quilt of Valor. We will be
getting crazy, doing Crazy Quilt Blocks. If you would like to help
out, Zion is at 330 Griswold St., Elgin. Bring scissors. On Tuesday we
will share the results of us getting crazy.
Ginny and Audrey are going on the trip to Missouri Quilt Company through "Sew Generously". Can't wait to hear all about it.
Happy Quilting to honor our troops,
Patty and Shirley

Today's Sew-In
I'm running out of words...amazing what we get done! I'll share my conversation with my son. "Mike, they loved your Buffalo chicken. They want me to post the recipe". Mike..".hahaha.. I don't have a recipe, I just throw things together!" Mom--well, try and put something together :) But he was glad you liked it. And I'll post when he gets it to me. There was someone else's recipe people were asking for. Send it to me and I'll post.
Here is the "beauty" that came in today. And I believe Deb left with LOTS of tops to bundle!! No worries...we are going to have what we need by November. I so believe in you!!
