We are a busy bunch of quilters that strive to provide quilts as our small and humble way of saying "thanks" to our returning troops. Rita Pennington (garipenn@att.net) is our "Drill Sergeant" and she keeps the (quilting) troops moving and motivated. We have 6 monthly sew-ins North of I88: St. Charles, Elgin, Rolling Meadows, Crest Hill, Geneva and Montgomery. See side bar for more info. Join us on Facebook: Illinois Quilts of Valor
Thank you!

Back stepping here
I just realized I didn't post pictures from our April, St. Charles Sew in. Great Lakes were our guests that day. They came out to video and take a couple interviews to be shown at their RWW Honors Banquets. Here are the tops that came in...never too late for some eye candy!
More of the tops from National QOV Sewing Day came in!

International Quilt Show-Chicago
And the week ended with a successful quilt show (even though I didn't get to see the actual show). We awarded 5 QOV's yesterday. Made some new contacts which I plan to follow up on as they are machine quilters! I thank ALL those who helped at the show, before the show and after the show! Set up people---great job! Nice to see it done up with a new look! (duck tape--nice :) But the actual presentation with the Honor Guard----WOW! Don't know if everyone knew this, we only were able to award two quilts then, but afterwards; Two of the Honor Guard members came up and said they were Veterans--so they got their quilt! One of the expected guests arrived late---he got his quilt. Honor Guard said they'll be back next year! I didn't take pictures but Doug and Suzie did and they're on Facebook. Again, thank you---Great show!

Been quite a week
We are now in the midst of our participation at the International Quilt Festival at the Donald Stephens Convention Center. Stop by the booth of you're there, especially around 1:00. We are awarding some special Veterans their Quilts of Valor.
Also, last week I got a call that Kaye England wanted a quilt of valor for a veteran Pepper Cory had in her class! Check this out! http://quiltville.blogspot.com/ Yeah, I'm a name dropper! plus Bonnie Hunter and Pam Hunter and Mark Sherman. What a group of fun people! Thank you Rosemary for your service. BTW, I did look at the label and saw that Donna N pieced this quilt and Pat I quilted it.
