Batting work, Friday, September 27,
At yesterday's sew-in we talked about setting a time to work on batting for our quilts. Well, Tuesday, after guild is already booked. So, I went ahead and booked Friday, September 27. Would you let me know if you can come and help? PLEASE!!
Our sew in was rather quiet (so, I was told). Came home with 2 completed tops and I know everyone took the tops they started home to finish!
Before I forget, I need to thank Kathy and Susie for stepping up to attend a couple out of town functions. Thank you SO much!! I was kinda worried about November 11th, that's for sure.
I sent out an initial information email on the upcoming sew in in Great Lakes, Friday, October 18. I need car info (Make, color and registration) by October 1st so I can turn the info in and they can get passes for us to be on base. If anyone else wants to sign up, let me know. There are a few wanting to car pool and there are people willing to drive!
Oh, and did find out that it takes about an hour and 20 minutes from my house to Great lakes (again, pending traffic). So, let's leave BY 7:30 - 8 AM!
So, see you at our next sew in.

Great Lakes Sew In---October 18
Hope you penciled in that last date. So, new date, and the latest I can go this year, is October 18. Tentative plans are: We can arrive as early as 9 and set up. Our hosts will be by around 11 (ish). They need full names of all who want to participate so they can get us our passes. We can meet at my house and car pool if you so wish. Susie has offered to bring an ironing board, and cutting mat. I have a large cutting mat as well and will bring an iron. Maybe we could use another iron or two. We should all bring rotary cutters, rulers and machines. IF you have an extra sewing machine you can bring along...fill the bobbins and let's do it! Pam was saying they have this food service that comes in and we can purchase our lunch...said it was very reasonable. IF you have any questions, let me know and I'll find out.
Thanks for bearing with us. As I said, this is our country's Navy and they have a job to do, right!! I'm all for it.
For those who took original copies of our handout, bringing them to the sew-in is still acceptable. I will need them the following week for the quilt show in Libertyville. This is the 2013 Village Quilters of Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Biennial Quilt Show at the Libertyville Sports Center, Firday and Saturday, October 25-26. Let me know if you'd like to come up and help at the show.
If you get a chance to get to the Madison Sewing Expo this weekend, I'll tell you it was really nice. Stop by and say hello (and make a block or two) with Karen at the QOV booth.

September Sew-in
That went very well!!! I used to give you a tally of what came in, but some of the tops that came in for binding--went to binders! Some of the tops that came in needing backings----went to Dorothy who is getting that done. I did come home with 10 totally completed tops---that's awesome!
Here are a few pictures of our show and tell:
Donna did a great job on this. A great way to use our scraps!
Log cabins from last month.
And a couple strip piecing ideas.
Next month we will be strip piecing.
About our trip to Great Lakes: Just now waiting for confirmation from the Captain. Told of our desire to get there a little earlier. Will keep you posted. If there is anyone else that wants to go, let me know. I'm working on a "little" room in my car so we can all car pool with someone...including myself.
Thank you for all the donated fabric and the generous check. You know it all just "happens" for me at the sew-in---it's when I get home and start unpacking that it really sinks in!!
Next month we will have the drawing for the "opportunity" quilt, so bring in any tickets.
