Sew-in Show and Tell and Memorial Day weekend plans

I do love our sew-ins.  Bring home tops, sew with friends (new and old)!!  Can't beat that.  Oh yeah, and a wonderful donation of fabric---thank you Marilyn.  Here are pictures of our show and tell..

Memorial Weekend. Saturday..anyone available to help me present some quilts in Plainfield to some veterans who came home wounded?   Since 9-11-2001, over 32,000 soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines have been injured in Iraq and Afghanistan.   Operation Welcome You Home, NFP (OWYH) wants to make sure these honorable and dedicated young men and women, and all of our past warriors who served including WW II, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, are not forgotten by those they swore to protect... the citizens of the United States of America.  As such, OWYH is sponsoring a 5k race from which all proceeds will benefit our local Wounded Warriors. 9 AM at Settlers Park, 24000 W. Lockport St., Plainfield IL  NOTE:  I have No plans to do the race---just present to 18 Veterans..

Let me know.

ALSO: On Monday, Memorial Day Parade in Aurora....Leading the parade will be Grand Marshall Cpl. Jim Morsovillo, who served four years in the U.S. Marine Corps as a combat radio officer at Khe Sanh during the Vietnam War, and now serves as a dedicated volunteer for veterans' causes.

Morsovillo sits on the board of Operation Welcome You Home, founded by his wife, Donna. The organization sponsors several activities for veterans and active military personnel, including send-offs for military members headed overseas, parades and other special events, flag lines honoring fallen soldiers at funeral homes, motorcycle ride fundraisers, and welcome home parties for veterans returning from tours of duty. Last year, the organization brought together more than 250 motorcyclists to help escort the Moving Wall into Aurora.

Morsovillo, an Aurora resident of 17 years, is also active in several other veterans' organizations, including the Fox Valley Marines, the VFW, the American Legion, the Combat Veterans Association, and veterans' motorcycle clubs including the American Legion Riders and the Leatherneck Riding Club. Jim has four sons, two of whom are also Marines.

Going to award Mr. Morsovillo a QOV if you would like to be a part of this.

Let me know.
Rita
